Terri:  I was working at IBM in Boca Raton, Florida, when I met Jack.

［モアリス］
Morris:  Wow. Boca Raton is hot. So, were you also working at IBM, Jack?
［ホ。ボカラトンは暑いわ。なら、ジャックも IBM に勤めていたかな？］

［ジャック］
Jack:  No. I was working on the beach as a lifeguard.
［いや、海岸のライフガードを務めていた。］

Morris:  Ohhh! So how does Jack look in a swimsuit, Terri?
［ほんまか？テリ、な、スイミングスーツ姿のジャック、どう？］

Terri:  We didn't meet at the beach. We met at Church.

Maxine:  Uh huh. So you're not going to tell us about his pecs? And there were no late walks at the beach, either, right?

Jack:  You know, I didn't really like swimming when I was a boy. Too much talk about jellyfish and sharks. It was scary.

Morris:  Did you like swimming in high school?
［高校では好きになったでしょう？］

Jack:  Yeah. Winning swimming meets was fun.

Maxine:  Bragging, are we?

Terri:  I've always liked swimming, ever since I was a child. Say, Max, did you say your sister was here?

Maxine:  Yes. She arrived just as I was making breakfast this morning.

Terri:  Oh, were you cooking this morning when I tried to call you?

Maxine:  Yeah. That's why I couldn't reach the cell phone.

Morris:  So when did you first figure out that you and Jack were, like, compatible?
［そうか。ちなみに、ジャックと性格が合うことにいつ気がついた？］

Terri:  I don't really know. Maybe I was thinking I might like to marry him by the fifth time we met.
［よくわかりません。もしかして、５回目出会ったところぐらいに、結婚したいかも知らないような気持ちができていたかも。］

Maxine:  Oh, I knew I wanted to marry Mogue the second time I met him.

Morris:  Was that when I broke my arm? I thought you were just feeling sorry for me.
［腕折れたときの話？可愛いそうに思ってくれているだけだったんじゃない？］

Maxine:  Well, yeah, I felt a little sorry for you, too.
［まあ、ちょっと可愛いそうだったけど］

Jack:  You played rugby back then. Is that how you broke your arm?
［あの当時ラグビーやってたのね。ラグビーで折れたんかな？］

Morris:  No, I did not break my arm while I was playing rugby. Broke my leg once playing rugby, but never my arm.
［いや、ラグビーやって折れたわけじゃない。一度は足折れたが、ラグビーで腕折れたことが一度もない。］

Maxine:  He fell down the stairs heading to the beach.
［海岸向かっているところ、階段で転んだ。］

Jack:  Excuse me. I'm going to check on the kids.

Terri:  The beach? In soft sand?
［海岸ですか？柔らかい砂浜で？］

Morris:  I was distracted.

Terri:  Should we ask what, or who, distracted you?

Maxine:  See, that's why I knew I'd like him.

Terri:  I'll get it, hang on.

Maxine: That might be Debby and Tom.

Terri:  Debby! Tom! So glad you could make it! Come in and sit down.
［デビー！トム！来てくれて嬉しい。お上がりください。楽にしてください。］

Debby:  Hi, Tere. Sis, Moe.
［テア、姉ちゃん、モー、来たよ。］

Tom:  Hello everybody! We're glad we could make it, too. Where's Jack?
［おおっ、皆！ちゃんと間に合って着いてよかった。ジャックどこ？］

Jack:  I'm here. I just checked on the children, Honey, and they were both sleeping.
［居るよ。子供ら見てきたところ。ハニー、二人共寝ているよ。］

Maxine:  Sound asleep? I'm a little sleepy myself.
［ぐっすりと？アタシも少し眠たい。］

Debby:  Sleepy already, Max? The night is still young!
［マックス！もう眠たい？夜はまだ早いですよ。］

Maxine:  My little sister is still young. Tom, you didn't answer your phone.
［お若いですね、イモウトちゃん。トム、電話しましたが、返事はなかった。］

Tom:  It must have rung while I was listening to the radio. I didn't hear it.
［ラジオを聞いている間に鳴ったかな？聞きませんでした。］

Terri:  When are you going to get a cell phone?
［いつ携帯を買うの？］

Tom:  Well, sometime, maybe.
［まあ、いつか、ね。］

Morris:  Say, Tom, I think I saw you a week ago at the store. Were you wearing a blue tee-shirt, Friday of last week?
［な、トム、だいたい一週間前にお店で出会わなかった？先週の金曜日、ブルー色のTシャツ着てなかった？］

Tom:  Well, I took Debby's friend Julie to Crest about six thirty, but I wasn't wearing a blue tee-shirt. I don't think it was me.
［さて、６時半ぐらい、デビーの友達のジューリーをクレストに連れてあげていたが、青いTシャツなんか着てなかった。俺と違うと思うよ。］

Morris:  It was at K-Mart. About eight forty-fiive.
［ケーマートだった。８時４５分ぐらい。］

Debby:  He was taking me to the airport then. Must have been someone else.
［ちょどその時間、空港に連れてもらっていたのです。人違いでしょう。］

Morris:  I sure thought it was you. But whoever it was didn't answer when I called out your name.

Maxine:  It always embarrasses me when I do that.

Morris:  I'd be more embarrassed if it had been him and I didn't say anything. What are we playing tonight, Uno or Pit?
